It\u2019s about being able to meet your financial obligations, be financially prepared for an unexpected event, able to save for future goals including retirement and having the financial freedom to make choices that allow you to enjoy life \u2013 now, in the future and under adverse circumstances.<\/p><p>The Organization for Economic Co-operation &amp; Development (OECD) states a correlation between Financial Education, Literacy and Wellbeing.<\/p><p>According to the OECD<strong>, Financial Literacy<\/strong> is defined as a combination of financial awareness, knowledge, skills, attitude and behaviour necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve individual financial well-being (OECD, 2012).<\/p><p><strong>Financial Education<\/strong>, on the other hand is defined as the process by which financial consumers\/investors improve their understanding of financial products, concepts and risks and through information, instruction and\/or objective advice, develop the skills and confidence to become more aware of financial risks and opportunities, to make informed choices, to know where to go for help and to take other effective actions to improve their financial well-being\u201d<\/p><p>The term Financial Education and Financial Literacy are not the same, these are related concepts. People achieve Financial Literacy through the process of Financial Education.
